In its beginnings, Philadelphia Brethren Assembly consisted of five families of like-minded believers who began gathering in their homes to worship the Lord in 1987 within the Philadelphia, PA area.
More and more believers were added to this gathering in a year and the Lord soon blessed them with a small rented hall located on Tabor Road in Philadelphia, PA.
It was in this small hall that the Philadelphia Brethren Assembly, Inc. (PBA) was officially formed with Sunday morning worship and Sunday School for its youth. The Lord graciously allowed the gathering to grow in number even more over a span of six years.
Through much prayer and by God’s guidance, PBA was able to purchase a building on Rising Sun Avenue and Adams Avenue in Philadelphia, PA to accommodate the growing numbers.
It would be impossible to list the way God continued to bless PBA over the next 12 years. Through its presence in the area PBA let everyone know “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16″; which was written boldly on its sign on the front of the building.
The assembly grew both spiritually and physically, celebrating God’s glories together through Sunday morning worship, Sunday School, Tuesday evening men’s meetings, Saturday afternoon ladies’ meeting, youth meetings for both the younger and older children in the assembly, and neighborhood outreach.
As God continued to bless the assembly and allowed it to continue growing, a need arose for a new home. After years of prayer and patiently waiting on His time and His will, God again provided a new home.
In June of 2005, Philadelphia Brethren Assembly moved to its current home in Glenside, PA.
PBA currently has over 50 families taking part in its various ministries, primarily Sunday morning worship along with Sunday Adult Bible Study, Sunday School, Wednesday Night Bible Study & Prayer meeting, Youth Fellowship meeting, Family Fellowship meeting, and Echo Outreach Ministry.
Recently, PBA has also extended its ministries to further teach and equip its members for the Lord’s service through multiple day Seminars and Special Bible Studies with guest speakers\teachers, foster internal fellowship through a multiple day Family Retreat, provide our facility to support valuable ministries outside the Assembly such as the Women’s Missionary Conference, reach out to the community by partnering with local churches in Glenside area through a multiple day Vacation Bible School, and conduct Gospel Meetings to spread the Gospel to those who have not heard.
Until the day His saints are all called to heaven, Philadelphia Brethren Assembly looks to work effectively towards God’s will for the assembly to affect our community and the world while continually praising and worshiping His name.
